The Land- Five Villages
Five Villages, Arookkutty, Perumbalam, Panavally, Thycattussery, Chennam Pallippuram all lies in the vembanad backwaters of Kerala. Surrounded by water, the land always was abuzz with water related activities and businesses. Coir processing, fishing, paddy cultivation, fish farming etc were the most prominent activity of the region.
Transportation of people and cargo were using canoes and rice boats. With a good network of roads and bridges, the land is now well connected to other parts.
Perumbalam is an independent and secluded island east of the main land. All the other four villages form the main land which is around 20 kms in length north to south and 2.5 kms in width east to west.
